Meet the Herbalist

Crystal Ramirez is the herbalist, artist, and maker behind Stellar Herbs & Body Care. A lifelong San Bernardino resident, she grew up in the Inland Empire and earned a B.A. in Studio Arts from Cal State San Bernardino in 2015. After a decade working in management, Crystal eventually shifted her focus toward herbalism, creative entrepreneurship, and building a life centered around making, learning, and community.

Today, Crystal runs Stellar Herbs & Body Care from the San Bernardino Mountains, where she lives and works with her partner, Jose. Their home and workshop is where they make herbal preparations, grow and work with plants, pursue creative projects, and spend plenty of time looking up at the night sky. Jose, a woodworker and astronomer, shares Crystal's curiosity about the natural world, and together they host Stellar Telescope Nights, free community gatherings that invite people to step outside, look through a telescope, and experience the night sky for themselves.

Crystal's work extends beyond Stellar. She is the store coordinator for Mercado 536, a creative entrepreneurship program and artist and maker cooperative at the Garcia Center for the Arts in San Bernardino. Through Mercado 536, she supports local artists and makers as they build and grow their creative businesses.

Her work brings together many of the things she has always been drawn to: plants, art, making things, astronomy, community, and the simple act of paying attention. Stellar Herbs & Body Care is one expression of that curiosity by creating a place to make useful, beautiful things from plants and share what she learns along the way.
